I've been seen from $51,000 to $60,000 easy. I'm thinking maybe I should wait another year or something

Prices on 2008s were depreciating into early 2012, and then they firmed up and actually went up a bit from deals I saw then until now. Buying a 2008 in the winter of 2012 and selling one now, you could have come out even or ahead some. I'm only referring to 2008s since I tracked that market very closely before I decided to hunt down the newest, lowest mileage 2011.5+ I could find.
2011s have been real firm this whole year. I bought mine in Feb for $54k with 16k miles and CPO included. I would imagine it would price the same or higher now. The "problem" though is basic supply and demand...there is relatively very low supply (especially of low mileage cars without a sunroof!) and strong demand.
As an aside, I was appalled at the condition of some M3s on the used market. Even a relatively low mileage 2010 (30k miles) looked like it had lived nine lives already, everything about the car sounded great, the pictures online looked super, but in person it was a disaster.
Wait until late January/early February if you want it soften up --best time to buy a car.
