I lived there 6 months and can verify exactly what this man stated. It gets worse when you leave the Shanghai metro area if you can believe it. All the scooters and bike may just be more dangerous than the actual auto traffic which in itself is deadly.

In China NEVER assume you have the right away....EVER. No such thing as a pedestrian.
