The idea is to show something on the 100th anniversary but this will feature all of BMWs brands and sub-Brands. Any development of such a car cannot commence until BMW are in full volume production of CFRP. As of now final stages of production test for the i3 are underway in Leipzig. Once BMW makes full volume CFRP production, then we can talk about a sports car as BMW needs its CFRP production to be cost effective for such a concept to be not only competitive but also profitable.
The i3 and i8 are acorns that will grow the great oak.
The current focus is on the game-changing BMW i8. When that is launched their will be nothing else like it on the market.
When do you think the CFRP tech will make it to the M3/M4? I'm assuming the next generation so around 8 yrs from now? I know the 7 will be the first in the line up to receive the treatment.
