Great advice.

I would ONLY trust a very experienced/talented tech to do this job. Pref one with BMW proper engine assembly skills. This is not a job you shop on price - find the best shop near you and pay what they want. You get what you pay for with any car work, but when it comes to opening $25k 8200rpm v8s - you need to find the best shop, not some Internet price whore. Most of the legit shops I talk to from these forum are very fair with their labor rates/hours billed.[/QUOTE Mike@VAC]
