As has been said both are good, reliable guns and will last so long as you care for them. I had a PPQ, sold it for some dumb reason, it was a great gun, and I have since purchased a gen 2. I, personally, don't like the way a glock feels in my hand, but that's just a personal opinion. I have shot more and more glocks over the past few years and they have grown on me now, but not enough that I would purchase one for myself. Again, not a reliability thing, just something that doesn't "feel" right to me.
Your best bet is to go to a range where you will be able to rent both of the guns, run some rounds through each and see which is going to feel best in your hand. When I made my first gun purchase I spent probably 3 or 4 hours shooting all the potentials to narrow it down to the one I wanted.
