I ordered the belt from bmwpartspro.com. The belt arrived yesterday and it is single sided. When I told this to bmwpartspro the answer I received was I must have an aftermarket belt. I do not have an aftermarket pulley or belt. So my question is what is the part number I need? My car is a 07/2008 build.
I am not an expert, but having just gone through the process of selecting an underdrive pulley, here's what I have learnt:

Most likely your car requires a double sided belt due to the routing of the belt that was revised as of 06-2008 builds.

Here's a link to my thread. Look at post #3 from Tom, it clearly shows the two belt routings. The second one requires a two sided belt.
