Correct me If im wrong, but this is the segment that applies to the current situation. I check out clean since the sticker was on the other side of the windshield, and not on the lower corner.
Regardless, no sane human being can claim that this contour of letters obstructs my view. Nobody. Because it doesnt.
But yes, i will buy another one. Perhaps even 2, just incase this happens again and i can put it on immediately after they sign it off xD
You've actually got it backwards. The section you quote is an exemption to the general prohibition in 26708 (a)(1), to wit: "A person shall not drive any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows."
The exemption for the seven-inch section of the lower part of the windshield doesn't apply to you, both because your sticker is in the upper part and is way more than seven square inches.
Unfortunately you are guilty under the letter of the law, as inscrutable as it is.
Obviously a more reasonable officer may not have hassled you for that, but I agree with other people that it probably was the German flag which got them riled up. We Americans tend to be a patriotic sort, and given the unfortunate association with German nationalism and a certain World War, I don't think your sticker aroused the warmest of feelings among this particular LEO. Just my 2 cents.
