If you can find a DD Mk18 upper, I would get it now. You could then buy a high quality stripped lower and set it up as a pistol lower. Result = You can legally shoot the Mk18 as an AR pistol.

Then, while you are enjoying what is essentially a Mk18 pistol, you could start doing the paperwork/going through the NFA process for the eventual SBR that your Mk18 will become.

Alternatively, you can try to find one of the newer DD carbines.

I don't know if you can tell with my crappy/dark iPhone 4 pics, but the new rails on the DDs are extremely nice. They are slimmer, lighter, and have what I feel is a better/more comfortable shape.

I honestly believe that this new V1 is lighter than my 6920 (which is equipped with an MOE+ grip, an LMT SOPMOD, and the Colt factory hand guards). I'm going to weigh the two for purposes of comparison tomorrow.

Good idea! I've got a few notifications set up for when they come back in stock. I hope it's only the supplies and distributors who are price gouging....
