Despite the fact that he behaved like a complete immature ass (the FU face and the jerk off motioning), perhaps he thought you were trying to be a jerk and that you were being sarcastic (you know saying "Nice Car" and giving a "thumbs up" can be perceived the exact opposite way, especially coming from a guy he doesnt know driving a VW who in his mind was trying to race or "keep up" or however he saw it.
Im not condoning his behavior at all but sometimes its difficult to tell when people are being genuine or a jerk at 80 mph plus on the highway.
