If you have a 2008 navi, CCC unit, you will need the CCC navigation disk. This thread will not apply to you. When I had my 2008 CCC, I updated to the 2012 disk no problem. I believe the link is somewhere on e90post.com and could be here as well.
For the 2012 maps in this thread (CIC), not only do you need the map disk/usb, but you will also need the FSC code to activate the maps.
