segmented sleep was normal back in the day (before electricity). people would sleep at dark, wake up midnight (study, fap etc), and sleep again by noon when work was done. in kabbalistic thought, it was considered a good omen to wake up midnight to study. they say, king david had a magic harp that woke him up around midnight.
i will sleep 8 hours nonstop maybe once a week. usually it's a mixture of naps throughout the day (but still averages up to about 7-9 hours/day)
