I love top gear UK, too bad the American version didn't follow closely enough.
As a counter point, I really like my '05 Prius. I have 135K miles on it and it's been on Infineon Raceway, Thunderhill Raceway Park, and Reno-Fernley Raceway. It's an awesome DD for crappy roads and heavy traffic in the SF Bay Area. I take it places where I wouldn't feel comfortable driving my sporty cars (i.e. bad roads or the city).
It does consume a couple quarts between canges now though, which is surprising for a Toyota but may be expected given that it's been tracked during some instructor days and generally driven pretty hard.
My dad got a 2012 Prius Plug-In to use the HOV lanes (stickers valid to 2015) about 7 months ago. The additional 90 lbs. weight gain from the extra batteries and softer suspension have dulled the car down. I wouldn't think of tracking that car but it is convenient to carpool solo.
