Wet sanding is a bit extreme and would be required only if compounding & polishing didn't correct the etching. I'll walk you through the process.
Compounding --> polishing --> finishing
Compounding (removes 1500 grit etchings), polishing (removes 2500 grit etchings + swirling), and finishing (brings gloss back to the paint).
If you do decide to go the DIY route, let me know and I'll go a bit more in-depth in the workflow.
