A word of caution... don't give them too much information, they like to call you multiple times a week to see if you're ready to ship it. Also emails are off the hook.

Some ship in enclosed trailers and others not so you may have to put a car cover at least. OR... you can have someone drive it for you that has some time on their hands and can get a cheap flight home.
I do not deny that an enclosed carrier is preferable to an open carrier but i fail to see the logic of why having the car driven across country would be preferable to having it shipped via a reputable carrier with an open truck. The car will receive no wear and test and will be far less susceptible to stone chips, etc, than it would be if it was driven.
