This is spot on. The respectful thing to do is take your shoes off when going to someone's house.

I used to all the time, and most of my family does.
However, as of late... I haven't been simply because my shoe collection has grown and I like to keep them all upstairs in my room. It seems like If I take them off at the entry way like I used to, I just accumulate a huge friggin pile.
Once snow becomes a frequent thing though, I will have to revert back to my old habits simply because its a necessity.
This is spot on as well. My parents flip when they see a bunch of shoes by the door. So I just wear them until I get to my room, then I take them off.
