The right way is ... you slow down ... pull over and let the dear pass or make up it's mind to cross or turn back. A dear is unpredictable ... also remember the dear was there first ... we men invaded there territory

Either way, I usually stop or slow to a crawl if I see a deer. I have kept moving, laid on the horn, and multiple other things to scare deer before and it hasn't worked. Sometimes the deer still just stands there and stares at me. Sometimes you need to just stop and wait. A lot depends on what time of the year it is too, if you've managed to catch a male during mating season they become very... "ambitious" I would say
