Not sure I agree with this one. M3 are always head turners. E46s a bit less so but only after they had been around a year or two and became fairly commonplace. The new M has significant stylistic departures from the regular 3 and I think it will stick out from those cars in a big way.
I was being a bit sarcastic with my response. I agree the M3 looks great and does stand out, but my point was that to buy it because you want to turn heads is missing the point somewhat. I think if your only reason is to show off and "attract the opposite sex", then the sheer driving appeal of the M3 will be lost on you.
