I really don't care about options. The cars are, in my opinion, adequately equipped with no options. I bought a used E90M3 because the price was great at the time. The only criteria for me were a gray or black exterior, a black interior and a CPO warranty. The car I bought has some options, but they mean little to me.
If the options are more important than the car, buy any car that has the options you want. I looked at 335i, but would have had to add a limited slip, tune, downpipes, bigger intercooler, meth injection, nonrunflat tires, coilovers and more to make it what I wanted. The M3 had a powerful enough engine and a good enough suspension in stock form to be a comfortable and sporty daily driver for me.
I won't compete with you rich guys about what one can afford and can't afford, but to say that one cannot afford a $55k car because one does not want to spend $65k on a $55k car with $10k worth of options seems stupid to me.
