Although I have only had my e90 m3 for a little over a month, I'm convinced that the current gen m3 is a mechanical masterpiece-- the car just excels in every imaginable way: aggressive looks, a high revving V8 (oh, don't get me started on the sound it emits, even my wife jokingly says it renders the sound system redundant,) and amazing handling. So, what would it take for you to consider the next gen m3 as the heir to the e9x m3 throne? Would being lighter, perhaps a csl version, do the trick? Linear power delivery and throttle response like the NA V8? Or is the e9x m3 as good as it gets?
The next M3 is more like a 3 Series M, just like the 1 Series M, using M suspensions, M steering wheel, M seats, M door sills, M gauges, M mirrors, M exhaust (no, not the M performance exhaust, but they'll be happy to sell you one), the M-LSD & the M-DCT...etc. Oh, I almost forgot, the M turbos!!!
